2 Ypsilanti Men Charged with Canton Verizon Store Break-In

Nakita Allen Franklin, 20, and Dion Antonio Davis, 22, were charged with breaking and entering at the Canton Verizon Wireless store.

After an exhaustive area search, Canton police arrested two Ypsilanti men on charges of breaking and entering at the Verizon Wireless store on Michigan Avenue early Monday morning. 

Nakita Allen Franklin, 20, and Dion Antonio Davis, 22, were arraigned on Wednesday and charged with breaking and entering, a 10-year felony, and interfering with electronic communications, a 2-year felony.

Additionally, Franklin was charged with being a second-degree habitual offender, which can enhance a sentence, while Davis was charged with being a fourth-degree habitual offender.

Canton police discovered the men breaking into the retail store during a routine patrol Monday, according to a press release. Franklin and Davis fled police on foot. Canton police received assistance from Ann Arbor and Michigan State Police K-9 units.

Judge James A. Plakas set bond for both defendants at $500,000, with a preliminary exam date of May 3 at 35th District Court in Plymouth.
