44-Year-Old Canton Man Struck by Car While Bicycling

Police say alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.

Canton Police are investigating an accident where a car struck a man on a bicycle on Joy Road, west of Lilley Road around 5:10 p.m. Wednesday.

The 44-year-old Canton man who was riding his bicycle westbound on Joy Road on the eastbound fog line, police said. 

Police said that when the car approached, the bicyclist swerved into the travel portion of the eastbound lane and was struck. The car was driven by an 84-year-old Canton resident, according to police.

The bicyclist was transported to St. Joseph Hospital by Canton EMS where his is listed in serious condition. 

Police said that alcohol may be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
