Bomb Squad Finds Prop Dynamite at Plymouth Condomium Complex

Fake explosive prop found Aug. 16 at Daisy Square Condominiums.

A bomb scare at a condominium complex in Plymouth on Aug. 16 turned up a device resembling dynamite, according to the Plymouth Observer

The non-functional device — eight painted dowels with wiring and a switch — was found near the garbage bin area of Daisy Square condominiums off of Union Street by Main Street by a maintenance worker, who phoned 9-1-1, the report said. 

The bomb scare, which lasted approximately an hour, brought the Michigan State Police bomb squad and firefighters to the complex. Ultimately, the case was handed over to , who are investigating how the object ended up in a garbage recepticle at the complex, the report said.

Plymouth Police Lt. Jamie Grabowski told the Observer he alerted CSX Railroad, causing a freight train to block two intersections in Old Village when rail traffic was halted. A nearby retail complex also was evacuated, the report said.
