Canton Man Arrested for Bank Robbery

Robbery happened Friday afternoon at PNC Bank in Canton.

A Canton man, Kurt William Jahnke, was arraigned this morning in  34th District Court in Romulus on three counts of bank robbery, according to Lt. Mark Schultz of the .

According to police, a man entered the on Canton Road at about 4:45 p.m. Friday and allegedly announced that a robbery was taking place. Witnesses told police he demanded several tellers to give him money.

The tellers told police they obeyed and the man reportedly left with an undisclosed amount of money, Schultz said.

According to police reports, bank employees gave officers a vehicle description, license plate number and told them which way the car was traveling when it left the bank.

Canton Police officers found the vehicle not far from the bank, arrested Jahnke, 58, and recovered money found in the vehicle, police said.

No one was injured in the incident. Jahnke faces a preliminary exam later this month in the 35th District Court.
