Canton Police Accuse Man of Trying to Steal Surround Sound System

The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

responded Sept. 9 to , 39500 Ford Road for a report of a man in custody accused of trying to take a surround sound system, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police he saw the man take the surround sound system, head to the men’s department where he selected clothing items, then to the deli where he placed a loaf of bread at the top of the cart before leaving the store without paying, the report said.

The store’s loss prevention officer stopped the man and escorted him to his office, the report said. According to the report, the total value of the items in the cart was $426.94.

Police arrested the man on charges of second-degree retail fraud, the report indicated.

Man accused of stealing video games from Walmart

Canton Police responded Sept. 7 to , 45555 Michigan Ave., for a report of a man in the store’s custody who was accused of taking four video games, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention employee told police she saw the man head to the electronics section of the store, select four video games and head to the sporting goods section, concealing the games in his jacket, the report said, before trying to leave the store without paying.

The store’s loss prevention officer stopped the man and escorted him to her office. Police arrested the man on third-degree retail fraud charges. The man also had a warrant out of Farmington Hills, the report said.

The man was given a Sept. 25 court date, the report said.
