Man with Felony Firearm Warrants Arrested in Canton

The following information was provided by Canton Township and Plymouth Township police departments. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

responded Aug. 21 to the 44000 block of Ridgefield Road for a report of a domestic dispute where a woman was having an argument with her sister and brother-in-law who also lived at the woman’s residence, according to a police report.

According to the woman, her brother-in-law, whom she was trying to evict, had several firearms and safes inside the residence and had an extensive criminal history.

Police located two felony firearm warrants against the man and searched the area for his whereabouts.

Police located the man near and took him into custody.

Police searched a gun safe inside the residence and found three 22-caliber semiautomatic rifles, one 12-gauge shotgun with six shells and a 22-caliber pistol loaded with six rounds.

When running a criminal history on the man, police found that he had been convicted of felony firearms possession in 2008 and felony assault with a dangerous weapon in 1994, the report said.

Police were seeking a warrant on charges of a felon in possession of a firearm, the report said. The man remains in police custody.

Damage reported to ATM at PNC Bank

responded to , 39475 Ann Arbor Road, for a report of damage to an ATM, according to a police report.

When police arrived, they noticed the ATM attached to the building had a broken cash withdrawal door, but did not have visible pry marks, the report said. The screen on the ATM also appeared to be frozen, the report said.

According to the report, the cash inside the machine appeared intact.

When bank security and police looked at the security footage two hours later, someone was observed struggling with the ATM, but it wasn’t clear whether it was the person who called in about the broken ATM. Bank officials said the cash door might not have been broken intentionally by someone, but might have gotten jammed. Bank officials conducted repairs on the ATM that day, the report said.
