The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Canton Township Police arrested a man shortly before 9 p.m. Oct. 23 near the intersection of North Sheldon and Warren roads on charges of possessing a controlled substance, according to a police report.

The responding officer saw a lone vehicle traveling fast on westbound Warren from the area of Hillsboro Drive, the report said. The officer noted the man was driving 57 mph and stopped the driver, according to the report.

When asked by the officer if he could look into his vehicle, the man said "no," the report said. Another officer was asked to respond with a police dog who detected marijuana inside, according to the report. The man told the officer that people had smoked marijuana in his vehicle but there was none in there now, the report said.

The officer searched the vehicle and located a mint container with three pills in the center console, according to the report. One was an over-the-counter drug and the other two were 20 mg orange capsules of Adderall, the report said. When asked, the man said he did not have a prescription for the Adderall but a friend who did must have put them in his car, according to the report.

The officer placed him in custody for the possession of the Adderall without a prescription and issued a citation for possession of a controlled substance and speeding 11 to 15 mph over the speed limit, the report said. The man has a hearing on Nov. 7 at 35th District Court.
