Canton Police Arrest Woman on Charges of Marijuana Possession

The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Canton Township Police arrested a woman at about 11:15 p.m. Oct. 23 near the intersection of South Haggerty Road and Crossbow Circle on charges of marijuana possession, according to a police report.

The responding officer observed a red Honda, traveling northbound on Haggerty Road, run the light without braking, the report said. The officer stopped the vehicle and the woman driving it said she wasn’t sure what to do at the light, the report said.

The officer said he could smell a marijuana odor coming from the vehicle, according to the report, and the woman said there was marijuana in the car when asked. She gave the officer a small clear plastic baggie of marijuana from her purse, which later tested positive for marijuana, the report said. She was arrested.

During the search of the woman's vehicle, the officer found a multi-colored glass pipe in the center console and a wooden “one-hitter,” according to the report. The woman was placed in a cell at the Canton Police Department and given a bond of $300, the report said. She has a hearing at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 7 at 35th District Court.
