Canton Police Arrest Woman on Retail Fraud Charges at Walmart

The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Canton Township Police arrested a woman 2:59 p.m. Nov. 16 on charges of retail fraud to the third degree at Walmart, 39500 Ford Road, according to a police report.

An asset protection associate told the responding officer that he observed a woman exit the store with a shopping cart of unpaid items, the report said. He saw the woman select two cases of Budweiser and a pack of bath tissue, according to the report.

In her cart were three 12-packs of Faygo, two 24-packs of Budweiser, two 24-packs of Ice Mountain water, one package of Quilted Northern Tissue, one Conair Footbath and one 24-pack of Mountain Dew totaling $95.35, the report said.

She was arrested and given a hearing 8:30 a.m. Nov. 25 at 35th District Court.

$300 Worth of Items Stolen from Car at Freedom Park

A Canton woman's vehicle was damaged and property stolen 5:34 p.m. Nov. 16 at Freedom Park, South Sheldon and Palmer roads, according to a police report.

The vehicle owner of the 2012 silver Ford Fiesta said she saw that her driver's side window was shattered and was used to gain access into her locked vehicle, the report said. Her Coach purse valued at $200, which had $80 in cash, and a $20 pair of sunglasses were missing from the vehicle, according to the report.

The woman said the purse was left on the seat in plain view, the report said.
