Canton Police: Eastbound Ford at Haggerty Reopened

Canton Police statement: Pedestrian critically injured.

The 53-year-old Walled Lake man was critically injured after being struck by a car near the intersection of eastbound Ford Road and Haggerty, according to a statement released by the .

The accident, which  happened at around 6:30 Thursday night, resulted in the eastbound lanes of Ford, east of Haggerty, being closed for more than four hours.

"Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a pedestrian had been struck by a car. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries," one police statement said. Police later reported that the man was in critical condition but did not disclose the nature or extent of his injuries.

The Canton Police Department Accident Investigation Team investigated the accident.

No further details are available as to the driver of the car, what may have caused the accident or whether the case will be referred to the Wayne County Prosecutor's office for possible charges.
