Canton Township Police were patrolling a flashing red light at Haggerty and Palmer for traffic violations on Oct. 23 when police stopped a red Honda traveling northbound on Haggerty after it ran the light without braking, according to a police report.
The driver told police she wasn’t sure what she was supposed to do at the light, the report said, and police detected what smelled like marijuana coming from inside the car.
The woman denied smoking marijuana, the report said, and told police she last smoked marijuana over the weekend and said someone else had smoked marijuana inside her vehicle that day, the report said. She told police she had marijuana inside her vehicle and turned over a small plastic baggie with suspected marijuana from her purse, the report said.
Police arrested the woman without incident, the report said.
Police found a multi-colored glass bowl used for smoking marijuana inside the center console of the vehicle, as well as a brown, wooden “one-hitter,” the report said.
The substance tested positive as 1.65 grams of marijuana, the report said.
The woman faces charges of marijuana possession, the report said.
While police searched the vehicle, the woman’s driver’s side door was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Haggerty, but did not sustain damage, the report said.
