Canton Police Recover Stolen Vehicle at Walker Winter Elementary

The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

responded Aug. 14 to Walker Winter Elementary, 39932 Michigan Ave., for a report of a vehicle running over a light pole, according to a police report.

When police ran the car’s plates, the vehicle was reported as stolen by the Wayne Police Department, the report said. Police were unable to locate a driver for the vehicle, the report said.

The vehicle, which sustained heavy damage in the crash, was impounded so fingerprints could be collected, the report said. The vehicle did not have signs of forced entry or damage to its ignition, according to the report.

Men accused of shoplifting from Walmart

Canton Township Police responded Aug. 20 to , 39500 Ford Road, for a report of three men accused of shoplifting, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police the men were spotted in the store’s health and beauty section, selecting packages of razors and razor blade refills. The loss prevention officer told police the men then went to the sporting goods section, where he saw the men conceal a flashlight and the razors before trying to leave the store, where they were confronted by loss prevention, the report said.

According to the loss prevention officer, two men stopped, while the third left the scene.

Of the two men in custody, one had $32.59 in merchandise, while the other had $27.59. They told police they needed the razors to shave and that neither had jobs.

Police arrested both men on charges of third-degree retail fraud. The man who left the scene was identified as the brother of one of the men in custody, and police will pursue charges against him, as well, the report said.
