Canton Police Schedule First Coffee with a Cop in 2014
Members of the Canton Police Department will meet with the public on Jan. 25.
The Canton Police Department is inviting residents to attend its first 2014 Coffee with a Cop on Jan. 25 at St. John Neumann Parish, located at 44800 Warren Road.
The coffee session will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, and is open to the public.
Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work in Canton’s neighborhoods and business districts. The majority of contacts law enforcement has with the public happen during emergencies or stressful situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building.
Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for relaxed one-on-one interaction.
“We hope that community members will feel comfortable to ask questions, bring concerns, or simply get to know our officers,” Deputy Chief Scott Hilden said. “These interactions are the foundation of community partnerships.”
The Canton Police Department would like to hold multiple sessions throughout the community this year. If you have a business or organization interested in hosting a 2-hour session of Coffee with a Cop, please contact the police department at 734-394-5401.
Requirements to host a two-hour session of Coffee with a Cop include:
- Canton location
- Open to the public
- Coffee is provided for attendees
