Canton Robbery Case Dismissed After Witness Fails to Appear in Court

Nathanial Bourdreaux-Brown faced armed robbery and home invasion charges following a June incident in a Canton apartment.

A Wayne County Circuit Court Judge dismissed criminal charges against a 21-year-old Detroit man who was charged with armed robbery and home invasion inside a Canton apartment after a witness failed to appear in court, the Canton Observer reported.

Charges against Aaron Nathanial Bourdreaux-Brown were dropped and he was released from custody Sept. 18, the Observer reported.

Bourdreaux-Brown was one of two men arrested on charges of armed robbery and home invasion following an incident on June 22.

Police said the men, with their faces partially covered, forced their way into an apartment. One of the men had a weapon and struggled with the resident, while the other man stole property from the apartment.

Bourdreaux-Brown could have faced penalties up to a life in prison, if convicted.

Judge Michael Hathaway dismissed the case without prejudice, meaning the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office could possibly file charges again, the Observer reported.
