Canton Robbery Suspects Face Sentencing

The four men pled guilty to reduced charges.

Four men who police say went to a Canton apartment to buy drugs will face sentencing on Jan. 23 after pleading guilty to two counts each of unarmed robbery, the Canton Observer reported

Joseph Charles Holland, 18, of Canton; Clary Dejuan Scott, Jr., 17, of Detroit; Alexander James Shippey, 22, of Livonia and Muhedin Danny Turkovic, 17, of Canton could face up to 15 years in prison, if convicted.

The charges stem from an incident at Canton Crossings Apartments on Nov. 3. Two victims told police that they were 'jumped' by the four men after going to visit Holland. Threats were made that they would be shot unless they handed over items like wallet, cell phone and cash, police said.

Police said the victims were also assaulted, with one of them suffering heavy bruising on the left side of the face.

Turkovic, Holland, Shippey and Scott originally faced charges of armed robbery after indications that a gun was involved, but 35th District Judge Michael Gerou reduced the charges, citing a lack of evidence linking them to a gun, according to the Observer.
