Canton Woman's Pit Bull Attacks Smaller Dog

Police said a Miniature Pinscher suffered a gash and missing skin from its neck.

Canton Police responded to the Days Inn on Michigan Avenue on July 13 when a woman complained that a Pit Bull came into her room and attacked her dog, according to a police report. 

The Pit Bull's owner, a 37-year-old Canton woman living at the hotel, told police her door was open because she was about to let her dog outside to go to the bathroom. The dog left the room and walked next door, where the door was also open, the report said.

The woman said she saw her dog go into the other room and followed. When she saw her dog attacking the other dog, she moved to split them up, receiving a mark on her hand, the report said.

The woman told police that her 6-year-old Pit Bull was up-to-date on shots, but was unable to provide paperwork, saying that it was at her mother's house, the report said.

The other woman took her injured dog, a 12-year-old Miniature Pinscher to Veterinary Emergency Service in Plymouth, the report said.

The dog suffered a large gash and missing skin on its neck, according to the report.

The miniature pinscher's owner produced the vet bill for police and said she wanted to prosecute. 

The other woman was issued citation for allowing her dog to attack. The Pit Bull was not quarantined, the report said. 

Canton couple fight over ownership of puppy 

Canton Police responded the 41000 block of Bedford on July 15 when a woman reported a man threatening to kick her door down, according to a police report.

The woman told police that the man was her on again, off again boyfriend, and that she ha d purchased a puppy that she was possibly going to give to him. She said she felt that he couldn't currently take care of the dog because he is currently unemployed, the report said. 

The 46-year-old Canton man told police that the dog was his and he wanted it, the report said.

The man admitted to threatening to kick in the door because he was mad, after having recently put his dog of 14 years to sleep and just wanted his puppy. The man said the woman gave him $80 to purchase the puppy, the report said.

The man was served with a trespass notice.
