Crime Report: Catalytic Converter, iPods Stolen in Separate Thefts

Catalytic converter sawed off from bottom of car

At 12:08 a.m. on Aug. 18, Plymouth Township police responded to a parking lot off Tavistock and Ann Arbor roads for a report of a catalytic converter stolen from a 2004 Monte Carlo, according to a police report. 

The owner told police he parked his vehicle in a carpool lot at 2 p.m. on Aug. 17 and returned at midnight. He told police when he started his car, he noticed it was unusually loud. He told police the catalytic converter had been sawed off during the day.

According to the police report, officers noticed possible prints on the passenger door near the lower rocker panel. Police said the other four cars in the lot at that time were intact.

Purse, iPods reported stolen from car

Plymouth Township Police were dispatched at 6:35 p.m. on Aug. 20 to , 44675 Five Mile Rd., for a complaint of items stolen from a car, according to a police report. The car owner told police that at 2:40 p.m., she drove her husband to work at the restaurant, parked her vehicle to the side of the building and entered the restaurant. She told police when she returned to the vehicle, her purse containing her personal checks, license and HTC Thunderbolt cellphone was missing.

Also taken were her 80-gigabyte iPod and her husband’s 120-gigabyte iPod. She told police the only other person who was at Mother’s Pizzeria during that time was her friend, whom she said she had lunch with and who was never out of her sight. Police have no suspects, according to the report, and they searched the immediate area and vehicles in the rear parking lot for items and did not find anything. According to the report, no security cameras were in the area.

iPod Touch, other items reported stolen from truck

Plymouth Township police met Aug. 17 with a man at the station who said items had been stolen from his 2008 GMC Sierra. He told police he parked his truck in his driveway on Priscilla Lane at 9 p.m. 

The man told police there were no signs of damage or forced entry on his truck. He told police he had returned to his truck at about 9 a.m. and noticed he was missing a 16-gigabyte iPod Touch, a pair of sunglasses, hunting clothes, mountain boots, binoculars and a Bluetooth earpiece for his cellphone.
