Crime Report: Catalytic Converter Stolen From Car

The following information was supplied by the Plymouth Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

On Jan. 14, Plymouth Township police responded to an apartment on Lilley Road for a report of a stolen catalytic converter, according to a police report.

The vehicle owner told police his 2004 white Chevrolet Cavalier had its catalytic converter stolen while it was parked outside his apartment. He told police he last noticed the part to be on his car at noon on Jan. 13. He told police that at 9:30 a.m. the following day, his wife noticed the car did not sound right. At that point, he told police, he inspected the car and noticed the part had been cut out and there were cut marks where it used to be.

The man was unable to provide any possible suspects to police. The damage was estimated at $500-600, according to the report.

Attempted vehicle theft

Plymouth Township police were dispatched to Helm Street on Jan. 9 for a report of an attempted vehicle theft at , according to a police report.

A person at the site told police that someone had tried to steal a 2008 Chevy van from the site during the previous two weeks. The van was parked in the parking lot, the report said.

Police observed damage to the steering column and ignition lock, but no damage to outside the vehicle. Police did not have any suspects.

Sprinkler housing units stolen

Plymouth Township police met at the department with the maintenance supervisor for a business on General Drive, who said he noticed two bell housing units for the business’ sprinkler system had been cut and removed, according to a police report.

The man told police he noticed the stolen sprinkler housing units at 6 a.m. on Jan. 11. He said the units are made of brass with copper pipes coming from the building and leading into the ground.

He told police the units likely were removed sometime during the previous two weeks.

Trailer apparently stolen from leasing company

Plymouth Township police responded Jan. 13 to on Eckles Road in response to a stolen trailer, according to a police report.

The company’s rental manager told police that on Dec. 15, the company noticed a trailer was missing. At first, he told police, the company thought it had misplaced the trailer and that it could be at another location, but after contacting other sites the trailer still could not be located.

The rental manager told police the company believes it was stolen near its Plymouth Township location. No license plate was attached to the trailer, but police entered the trailer into the law enforcement information network (LEIN) system as stolen.

Tires slashed outside restaurant

Plymouth Township Police responded  Jan. 13 to on Ann Arbor Road for a report of slashed tires, according to a police report.

The vehicle owner told police a 2008 Ford Van was parked at 9 p.m. on Jan. 12. When the owner returned to the site at 6:30 a.m., all four tires were slashed.  Police have no suspects.

Items stolen from vehicle

Plymouth Township police responded to Cooke Avenue on Jan. 16 for a report of theft from a vehicle, according to a police report.

Officers met with the homeowner, who said between 11 p.m. on Jan. 15 and 7 a.m. on Jan. 16, someone entered his wife’s 2009 Ford Flex and stole a Garmin GPS and an undisclosed amount of U.S. coins. The man told police the Flex was parked in the south end of his residence.  The vehicle, he told police, is registered to his wife.

The man’s wife told police she noticed the property missing when she was about to drive to work. She told police she was confident she had locked her doors

Officers noticed shoe impressions in the snow in the driveway, the report said. The tracks ended in the roadway south of Cooke Avenue.
