Crime Report: Catalytic Converters Reported Missing from Vehicles

The following information was provided by the Plymouth Township and Canton Township police department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

were dispatched July 1 to Schoolcraft Road for a report of catalytic converters stolen from several vehicles, according to a police report.

According to the report, a 2011 Ford van and 1997 Chevrolet van parked at Performance Staging each had the converters removed, while the Chevrolet also had its driver’s side window broken out and items from inside removed.

Among the items reported removed from the Chevrolet were a box of miscellaneous work parts and a box of cable wire. The boxes were found near the dumpster covered in antifreeze.

Witness reports suspected break-in attempt

Plymouth Township Police responded June 28 to an apartment on Lilley Road for a report of items being taken from a truck, according to a police report.

A witness told police he saw three males attempt to break into a silver truck, surrounding the truck and attempting to slide a device down through the window, the report said. He told police he asked the men what they were doing, and the three took off running along the south side of the building.

No damage was reported to the truck, which still was locked, the report said.

A resident at the apartment told police an apartment unit in an adjacent building had recently been abandoned and there had been some individuals staying there without permission, and they believes the incidents might be related.

Woman cited on shoplifting charges

responded June 29 to , 44444 Ford Road, for a report of a woman taking shorts, sunglasses and other merchandise from the store, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police he saw a woman with a backpack select a pair of shorts and sunglasses, among other items, and enter a fitting room. The employee told police he noticed the woman’s backpack appeared larger when she left the room, and located clothing tags on the floor.

The loss prevention officer told police he saw the woman then pay for some items — not the clothing — and tried to exit the store.

According to the report, police handcuffed and searched the woman and cited her on charges of third-degree retail fraud.

The total value of the items was $40, the report said.
