Crime Report: Teen Cited on Charges of Stealing Underwear

The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Canton Police responded April 17 to department store, 44444 Ford Road, in response to a report of stolen underwear, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention employee told police he watched a 15-year-old teen take a package of Jockey-brand underwear and three shirts into a fitting room, the report said. He told police when the teen emerged, he had just two shirts.

The employee told police he found an empty package of underwear and a shirt tag in the fitting room.

The employee approached the teen, who turned over the Jockey underwear, valued at $22.50, and shirt, $16, from his backpack.

The teen told police he “made a big mistake” and was sorry.  Police cited the teen with third-degree retail fraud.

Man arrested on charges of stealing headphones for heroin

responded April 17 to , 47330 Michigan Ave., for a report of stolen headphones, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police they saw a man cut open a package of headphones and fled the store in the back of a vehicle, the report said.

Officers located and stopped the car at Michigan Avenue and Beck Road, the report said. Police recovered four packages of headphones, valued at $321.96. According to the report, the same man is suspected of stealing two cellular phones, valued at $479.98, from the store the previous day.

According to the report, the man told police that he took the items to support his heroin habit. He told police he sold one stolen cell phone and the other was stolen from him.

Police arrested the man on second-degree retail fraud charges.

Credit cards reported missing from car

Canton Police were dispatched to , 8500 block of Honeycomb Circle, for a report of items taken from a car, according to a police report.

The vehicle owner told police someone had broken into his car, the report said. He told police he parked his car at 7:30 p.m. the night before and at 8:15 a.m. noticed items scattered around the vehicle, the report said. He told police he locked his car, and police observed no signs of force entry.

The man told police he would cancel his credit cards, which were missing.

Another person at the residence told police her vehicle had also been broken into, but she did not believe anything was missing.
