Crime Report: Stores Report Energy Drink, Baby Formula Thefts

Plymouth Township police have encountered at least three cases of stolen energy drinks this month from local grocers, according to police reports.

Officers arrived at , 15185 Sheldon Road, for a report of a man in his early 20s who left the store with a garbage bag full of Red Bull energy drinks and baby formula without paying for any of the items.

A witness at the store told police she followed the man out the door. The man left the merchandise near his vehicle and fled southbound on Sheldon in his red Ford F-150, the report said.

On Feb. 6, officers encountered two similar incidents at Kroger, 44525 W. Ann Arbor Road, according to police reports.

An employee told police that at 11:25 a.m. that day, a man stole a cart full of Red Bull and Monster energy drinks. When the employee stopped the man, he apologized before leaving the scene on foot behind an adjacent plaza. Police were unable to track the man in the parking lot after the incident.

Police returned to the Kroger store at 1:10 p.m. after a manager told police he saw a man in his 20s leave the store with baby formula and 5-Hour Energy drinks. The manager told police he stopped the man as he was leaving the store and asked for a receipt. According to the report, the man told the manager he threw his receipt away, then fled on foot behind the same plaza as the earlier suspect toward Sheldon Road.

Teen accused of stealing shoes from Carl's Golf Land

Plymouth Township police responded Feb. 10 to a report of a teen stealing shoes from , 44135 Five Mile Road, according to a report.

The store managers told police a customer entered the store and asked to try on a pair of ECCO Street Text shoes. After trying on the shoes, he asked an employee if he could place a hold so he could pick up the shoes at a later date, the report said.

The managers told police that while the employee brought the shoes to the front of the store, they saw the teen walk into the back storage room, pick out shoes in his size and enter the dressing room to swap his old shoes with a new pair, placed his old shoes in the ECCO Street Text box and exited the store wearing the new shoes.

Police tried calling the suspect at a number he had provided to the employee when he requested the hold, but the person who answered identified himself as a Carl's Golfland employee and hung up the phone, the report said.
