Crime Report: Man Cited on Charges of Stealing Diapers

Canton Township Police responded April 21 to , 39500 Ford Road, for a report of a man taking diapers from the store, according to a police report.

The store's loss prevention officer told police he saw a man quickly select several boxes of diapers from store shelves and place them in his shopping cart, the report said. He then saw the man take several towels and bed sets from the housewares department before exiting sthe store with all the items in his cart, the report said.

The loss prevention officer told police he stopped the man outside the store and escorted him to the loss prevention office. The total of the items, which included three boxes of Huggies diapers, five bath towels, three wash cloths, two hand towels, two boxes of Huggies wipes and three bed sets, totaled $252.27.

Police cited the man on charges of third-degree retail fraud.

Man arrested on charges of stealing wallet

Canton Police were dispatched to , 45555 Michigan Ave., for a report of a man stealing a wallet, according to a police report.

The store's loss prevention officer told police he saw a man remove a wallet from its package and place the empty box on the shelf before placing the wallet in his front pants pocket, the report said.

The employee told police the man went through the checkout, paying for other items but not the wallet. The loss prevention officer told police that when he stopped the man, he admitted to taking the wallet but said "it was a mistake," and offered to pay for the item.

When police arrived, the man provided a false name and was cited on charges of third-degree retail fraud and obstructing justice.

Woman reports $50 missing from car

Canton Township Police met with a woman on the 42000 block of Jennings Ct. on April 25. She reported someone entering her unlocked vehicle and taking about $50 from the center console, according to a police report.

The woman told police the money was a combination of bills and about $10 in quarters, the report said. Nothing else was taken or damaged, she told police. Police have no suspects.
