Crime Report: Plymouth Township Police Respond to Loud Party

The following information was provided by the Plymouth Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Plymouth Township Police were dispatched June 3 to Donovan Boulevard and Draper Circle for a report of a loud party, according to a police report.

The caller reported to the dispatcher that there were numerous vehicles parked in the street and several teens loitering in the area.

When the officer knocked on the front door, two female teens were standing just inside the door, and one asked the other if they should answer the door, and the officer told them they should get the homeowner, the report said.

A male teenager entered the foyer of the house from the garage carrying an unopened can of beer, and the officer asked him to step outside, and he complied.

The teen told the officer he was 21, but said he did not have identification and never owned a driver’s license, the report said. According to the report, the teen had a strong odor of intoxicants, slurred speech and red, bloodshot eyes.

At this time, the report said, the homeowner appeared and advised the male teen to go back inside the house. She told police the male was 19 years old and said her daughter was having an “after-prom party.” She told police she was the only person older than 21 inside the home.

The officer asked the woman about the unopened can of beer in the male teen’s hand and she said he he wasn’t driving, then said he had an empty can with the top removed to spit his chewing tobacco.

The officer told the woman he believed there were minors consuming alcohol in her home and she told police she had been up in her room and that if there were any minors consuming alcohol she was unaware.

The officer asked the woman if she would like him to come inside the home and verify who had been drinking and who had not and she declined.

The officer cited the woman on charges of having an open house party. The woman told police she was not doing anything wrong, and the officer asked the woman if she would like to go ask the 19-year-old male if he would like to take a preliminary breath test.

The woman told police she “should not have to prove that the kids at the party were not drinking,” and officers told her it was her responsibility to secure safe transportation home for all her party guests. The officer also issued parking citations for each car that was parked illegally.
