Crime Report: Police Arrest Woman Accused of Shoplifting

The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

were dispatched June 6 to , 39500 Ford Road, for a report of the store’s loss prevention officer having a suspected shoplifter in custody, according to a police report.

The loss prevention officer told police he was doing floor surveillance when he saw a woman select clothing items from the women’s and intimates departments and place the items in her purse before trying to leave the store without paying.

The loss prevention officer told police the items totaled $275.29.

The employee stopped the woman and accompanied her to his office.

Woman accused of taking earbuds from Walmart

Canton Township Police were dispatched June 10 to , 45555 Michigan Ave., for a report of someone taking earbuds from the store, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police she observed a female taking a box of red Inspire-brand earbuds from a shelf, removing them from the packaging and placing them in her purse, the report said.

The loss prevention officer told police the female then tried to leave the store with her sister. Police arrested the female on charges of third-degree retail fraud with a June 27 court date.
