Crime Report: Rowdy Crowd, Busted Window Reported at Fiegel Building

The following information was provided by the Plymouth Township and Canton Township police departments. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

responded July 26 to in Plymouth for a report of a large, loud gathering of people on the playground.

When police approached a small group of children playing football at the school, officers noticed a window was smashed out on the north end of the building. The children playing football told police there was a large group of people playing basketball near where the window was smashed, but they told police they didn’t see anyone break the window.

Police caught up with the group who had been playing basketball at apartments nearby. They told police the window was like that before they arrived and they had no idea who might have broken the window, the report said.

Phil Freeman, ’ Assistant Superintendent of Facilities and Operations, responded to the scene and told police the basketball hoop and other equipment was slated to be removed from the playground, which should prevent groups from gathering at the premises. The Plymouth-Canton district closed Fiegel Elementary after the 2011-2012 school year.

Walmart on Michigan Ave. reports shoplifting

were dispatched July 27 to , 45555 Michigan Ave., for a report of shoplifting in progress, according to a police report.

When police were en route to the store, dispatch advised officers the store’s loss prevention officer had detained the suspect in the parking lot but the woman initially was not willing to come back into the store before finally cooperating, the report said.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police the woman had started shopping around, selecting two items, a baby monitor and baby swing, placing them into a cart and leaving the store. She then was detained by the loss prevention officer and another employee and taken into police custody, the report said.

According to the report, the woman also had two arrest warrants out from the Farmington Police Department on charges of driving with a suspended license and equipment violation.
