Crime Report: Tag Removals, Merchandise Returns Lead to Arrest

A shopper at , 41920 Ford Road, was arrested Sunday on charges of theft, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention officer told she watched the woman remove and hide tags from various items on store shelves, then took a pink skirt, removed the tag, and paired it with a t-shirt. The employee told police the woman paid for some of the items, but not the skirt.

The loss prevention officer told police the woman also made several fraudulent merchandise returns before shopping, the report said. She told police she went through each of the returned items and found mismatched tags with the items. A pink hat was tagged as a $9.99 Detroit Tigers shirt, and two returned Arizona-brand t-shirts had Marshall’s tags, which the employee said was a JC Penny-exclusive brand not carried at Marshalls. She estimated the total loss at $188.84.

The woman was arrested on charges of third-degree retail fraud.

Woman faces charges for allegedly taking items from Walmart

Canton Police responded March 31 to , 39500 Ford Road, for a report of a female who they said attempted to leave the store without paying for four items she had concealed, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police he watched on camera as the woman concealed the items in her purse and walked past the checkout without paying.

According to the report, the loss prevention officer stopped the woman and escorted her back to the loss prevention office, where four items totaling $33.81 were recovered. The nature of the items taken was not disclosed.

The woman was arrested on charges of third-degree retail fraud and posted $300 bond. She faces an April 18 court date at in Plymouth.

Wallets, iPods reported missing from car

A resident of told police Sunday that someone had taken two wallets and two iPods from his silver 2011 Subaru Forester, according to a police report.

The man told police he had parked the car, unlocked, at 8 p.m. on March 31 at the apartment complex. When he returned the next day, he told police, he noticed the items were missing.

According to the report, one wallet had paperwork for a gun registration and concealed carrying weapon (CCW) permit.

The man also reported spots of blood in the car and on the door handle, the report said. Officers collected the samples as evidence. Police have no suspects.
