Crime Report: Tires Slashed; Attempted Breaking and Entering

Attempted breaking and entering

Police responded to Old Pond Circle on Sept. 14 in response to an attempted breaking and entering, according to a police report.

Police met with the homeowner inside the woman’s home, who said it did not appear as though anyone had taken anything or gained entry.

She told police that when she went out to her car at 9 a.m., she found the contents of her glove compartment scattered around the car. She told police the car had been parked in her driveway unlocked, last driven by her son the night before. She said when she came home later in the morning, she found her garage door was open and said the inside door was locked and there was no sign that anyone gained entry.

Tires slashed on several vehicles

Police responded to Plymouth Oaks Boulevard on Sept. 10 for a report of a slashed front tire. A man told police that the vehicle, a GMC Sierra registered in Ohio, belonged to his employer.

On Sept. 12, police responded to Plymouth Oaks Boulevard again for a report of a yellow John Deere mower deck stolen from the back of the property. In addition, a 1990 Ford Super Duty Custom had two front tires slashed, and a 1994 Ford Super Duty Dump Truck had all four tires slashed.

A man at the property told police that he does not have any suspects in mind and does not have outdoor surveillance cameras.

Dodge Caravan damaged overnight

Plymouth Township Police responded to Katherine Court on Sept. 19 in response to a busted driver's side window on a 2010 Dodge Caravan, according to a police report.

The victim told police he came home and parked the vehicle in his driveway at 10 p.m. on Sept. 18 and when he came outside at 7 a.m. the next morning, he noticed his driver side window had a large hole and the glass surrounding it was shattered. 

The victim told police he looked inside his vehicle and did not see anything had been stolen. He told police he had a laptop, GPS, briefcase and some tools in his vehicle and did not know who could have broken his window.

According to the police report, officers could not find any objects in or around the vehicle that could have been used to break the window.

Purse stolen from vehicle at gas station

Plymouth Township Police met with a woman at the station who said while she was at the Speedway gas station, 15255 Sheldon Road, someone stole her purse while she was filling her 2002 Jeep Liberty’s tire with air, according to a police report.

The woman told police she pulled up near the air pump, exited the vehicle and began to fill her tire on the driver’s side. She told police she re-entered her vehicle and drove toward Oak Park and said she noticed her purse missing while driving.

She told police when she exited her car to fill the tire, her purse was on the passenger seat and the passenger-side window was open.

Among the stolen items were a black Donna Karen cloth purse, a black wallet, a driver’s license, credit cards, a checkbook and cash. The woman told police she closed her checking account and her credit cards when she realized her purse was stolen. She told police she received notice from the Von Maur department store in Laurel Park Place in Livonia, saying two checks were passed on Sept. 4. The officer told the woman she would have to file a report with Livonia police, as Von Maur falls within its jurisdiction.  

BMW attacked overnight

Police responded on Sept. 12 to a woman at Canton Center Road who said she parked and locked her 1999 BMW in her driveway the night before at about 9:30 p.m. The next morning, when she went to leave at 11:30 a.m., she noticed the front driver’s side window was shattered.
