Crime Report: Two Canton Kohl's Stores Report Theft Attempts

The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

were dispatched April 30 to , 44444 Ford Road, for a report of a woman stealing clothes from the store, according to a police report.

The store's loss prevention officer told police he saw the woman select three pairs of jeans and a pink sweater before entering a fitting room. The employee told police he saw the woman leave the room, but did not see one pair of jeans and the pink sweater left behind in the room when she left, the report said. The employee told police he saw the woman pay for a pair of shoes she had on hold in the men’s department before trying to leave the store, the report said.

The loss prevention officer stopped the woman and escorted her to his office, where she turned over the sweater and jeans, valued at $90, the report said.

Police arrested the woman, who lives in Florida, on charges of third-degree retail fraud. She posted $300 cash bond and is due in court May 15, the report said.

Police arrest woman on charges of taking jewelry

Canton Township Police responded April 27 to , 47250 Michigan Ave., for a report of a woman taking jewelry from the store, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police he saw the woman select jewelry, cover her hands with a piece of clothing to obscure the jewelry and enter a fitting room. When she left the room a few minutes later, there was no sign of jewelry left behind in the room, the employee told police. According to the report, the loss prevention officer stopped the woman and escorted her to his office.

Police arrested the woman on charges of third-degree retail fraud with a May 9 court date.
