Crime Report: Woman Accused of Shoplifting from Home Goods in Canton

The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

were dispatched to , 42615 Ford Road, for a report of a shoplifter, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police she saw a woman select a silverware set and conceal it in a plastic Marshall’s bag, then selected a king-sized quilt set and attempted to return the set without a receipt, the report said. The store refused to accept the returned item and the woman left the store with the items without offering payment, the report said.

The store’s loss prevention officer stopped the woman, the report said, and escorted her to the loss prevention office. The value of the two items totaled $129.98.

Police arrested the woman on charges of third-degree retail fraud and returned the property to the store. The woman was given an Aug. 22 court date.
