Crime Report: Women Accused of Shoplifting from Walmart in Canton

were dispatched July 22 to , 45555 Michigan Avenue, for a report of three women in custody accused of shoplifting, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police he was monitoring the store on video and observed three women in the women’s and girls' clothing departments selecting various merchandise from the shelves without any regard to price and concealing the items in their purses, the report said.

The employee told police the women then paid for some non-concealed merchandise without offering payment for the concealed items, at which point he made contact with the women. He recovered $44.44 in merchandise from one woman, $60.23 from another and $8.50 from the third woman.  The employee told police he would pursue charges for the two women accused of taking the more valuable items.

Police arrested the two women on charges of third-degree retail fraud and drove the third woman to the police station so she could secure a ride home. The two women charged with retail fraud were given an Aug. 8 court date.

Items reported stolen from semi truck

responded July 17 to Haggerty Road for a report of several items taken from a semi truck, according to a police report.

The truck driver told police he parked his 2007 Freightliner semi truck cab in a parking lot on Haggerty Road at about 8:10 a.m. on July 17 and returned to find several personal items missing from the truck, including a General Lee edition CB radio with red neon lights and a blue gem on the channel knob, a PC Miller GPS navigation system and a tool box containing various tools, the report said.

The driver told police he was sure he had locked the truck.
