Fire at Plymouth Fire Station Won't Affect Emergency Services

There were no injuries, but the fire caused significant structural damage to the building, which is adjacent to Plymouth City Hall.

Emergency services in Plymouth will not be affected after a fire at the Downtown Plymouth fire station destroyed a small fire truck and damaged the building at about 4 a.m. Sunday, according to Lt. Jim Davison of the Northville Fire Department.

Davison said firefighters were moved to Fire Station No. 2, 41212 Wilcox Road, and continue to perform services as usual.

Plymouth police discovered the fire and alerted Northville firefighters who were on call for the City of Plymouth. The fire was extinguished in a matter of minutes.

The fire caused significant structural damage to the building located at Plymouth City Hall. Only the fire station was closed due to the fire.

Davison said it could take four to six months to repair the building.

The damaged fire truck was used for smaller fires involving cars and trash, according to Davison.

Two full-size fire trucks, an ambulance and a ladder truck were not damaged in the fire.
