Fire Damages Canton Condo's Garage, Vehicle

The fire appears to be accidental, having started in the engine compartment area of the truck, officials said.

A Dec. 30 fire at a Canton condo in the 1900 block of Hawks Nest Court caused about $35,000 of damage, fire officials said.

Canton firefighters responded to the call inside Weathersfield Condos at about 8 p.m. and found a pick-up truck fully engulfed in flames, with fire extending into the garage.

Firefighters attacked both areas simultaneously. The fire was quickly brought under control and was contained to the garage and vehicle. Initial damage is estimated at $20,000 to the structure and $15,000 to the vehicle.
