Fire Injures One at Canton Place Senior Apartments

Unidentified female resident suffered from what Canton Fire officials said were "non-life-threatening injuries."

Smoke from a Wednesday morning fire at Canton Place, 44505 Ford Rd., injured one resident, according to a statement by Canton Township Fire Department.

The sixth-floor fire was caused by what fire officials called an "unattended flame" which ignited a nearby cabinet. The fire and smoke activated the buiding's sprinkler system, which helped douse flames.

Firefighters tools the unidentified female resident to the first floor, where she was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to a nearby hospital with what was described by fire officials as "non-life threatening injuries."
