Ford Road Between Ridge and Napier to Remain Closed Until 6 p.m. Friday

Friday accident hospitalizes two, closes portion of Ford Road.

Ford Road between Ridge and Napier roads in Canton will remain closed through about 6 p.m. Friday so police can complete an investigation of an accident that occurred earlier in the day, according to a news release from the Canton Department of Public Safety. 

A vehicle being driven by a 27-year old Canton woman was traveling eastbound on Ford Road on Friday, when witnesses reported the vehicle crossing over into the westbound lane and being struck head-on by a semi truck driven by a 61-year-old man, the news release indicated.

According to the news release, the impact of the collision forced the vehicle back into the eastbound lane when it was struck by a car driven by a 26-year-old Garden City resident.

Canton firefighters extricated the Canton woman from her vehicle and prepared a landing zone for her to be air-lifted to U-M Hospital in Ann Arbor. Firefighter-paramedics treated and drove the Garden City woman to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. The man driving the semi truck was treated and refused transport, the news release indicated.

Details on injuries to the female drivers are not known at this time, according to the news release. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles involved.
