Officer warns of drunk driving dangers on eve of Thanksgiving.

Tonight is the eve of Thanksgiving, the biggest bar night of the year across the United States, and local police are stepping up patrols tonight to catch drunk drivers.

In today's "Good Morning, Plymouth" video, Sgt. Chris Voorhies of the suggests those who plan on going out with friends and/or family tonight secure a designated driver or cab arrangements.

Michigan's legal limit for blood alcohol level is 0.08. The amount that consists of varies depending on the person consuming the drinks, Voorhies said. He said the penalties are harsh for those who get caught, even if it's a first-time offense. The consequences are even more dire if someone gets hurt or killed, he said.
