Condom Theft Thwarted by CVS Employee in Plymouth Township

The following information was provided by the Plymouth Township and Canton Township police departments. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

were dispatched Aug. 22 to , 40900 Ann Arbor Road, for a report of a man stealing condoms, according to a police report.

According to the report, the man suspected of stealing from the store ran westbound along Ann Arbor Road, then across the street into the Marilyn/Southworth subdivision off Ann Arbor Road, where he was stopped by police.

A CVS employee told police he saw the man take a three-pack box of Trojan-brand condoms, opening the box and placing the condoms in his sweatshirt pocket and discarding the box, the report said. The employee told police he yelled at the man, and then the man tried to run from the store. Another employee was in the doorway, however, locking the doors and was able to reach into the man’s pocket and retrieve the three condoms. The man then ran toward Ann Arbor Road.

Police cited the man on a charge of larceny with a Sept. 11 court date.

Canton police arrest man on drug paraphernalia charges

were on patrol Aug. 23 at Warren and Canton Center roads when the officer stopped a driver in a green Chevrolet Impala without a passenger side brake light, according to a police report, after the driver crossed double-yellow lines while trying to turn onto northbound Canton Center Road.

Police requested a vehicle search, and the driver consented. The driver told police he had “a piece for smoking tobacco” in his left pocket. Police then retrieved a pipe, as well as a marijuana grinder with a small amount of marijuana inside. The pipe also had residue that smelled like marijuana, the report said.

Police cited the man on charges of marijuana paraphernalia possession and for making an improper turn.

He was given a Sept. 5 court date.
