Man Accused of Trying to Steal Saw Blades from Home Depot

The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

were dispatched Aug. 15 to , 45900 Michigan Ave., for a report of a man accused of shoplifting, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police he saw the man conceal three saw blades in his pants before trying to leave the store through the garden area, the report said.

Police arrested the man on charges of third-degree retail fraud, leaving the saw blades, valued at $39.97 apiece, with the store. He was given an Aug. 28 court date.

Women accused of shoplifting from Walmart

Canton Township Police were dispatched Aug. 15 to , 45555 Michigan Ave., for a report of two women in custody accused of shoplifting, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention officers told police they saw the women remove a phone case from the packaging and concealing it beneath one woman’s three-month-old infant, seated in a car seat in a shopping cart. The loss prevention officers then saw the woman conceal a second case beneath the infant before the women tried leaving the store through the grocery entrance before being stopped by the employees.

According to the report, the women admitted to taking the items, as well as a set of Gumy-brand earbuds, which also was hidden beneath the infant.
