Man Arrested on Drug Paraphernalia Charges

Police recover marijuana grinder, pipes from parked van.

Canton Police responded March 12 to Academy Point mobile home park, 5200 block of South Haggerty, for a report of a white van stationed in the back of the park with people coming in and out for the past hour and a half, according to a police report.

Police located a older white GMC Starcraft van parked on East Annapolis Circle.

The officers approached a man in the driver’s seat, who told police he and two passengers in the van were just sitting in the van and hanging out.

When an officer approached the passenger side of the vehicle, the passenger immediately told police he had marijuana and handed the officer a red box containing a silver grinder, green and silver marijuana pipe, an orange marijuana pipe, with a small amount of marijuana flakes inside the grinder, the report indicated.

The passenger told police it was his birthday and he and his friends were celebrating, and stated there also was open alcohol in the back of the van, according to the report.

Police located a bottle of Southern Comfort on the floorboard in the back seat, which police destroyed at the scene.

Officers arrested the passenger on charges of possessing marijuana paraphernalia. The substance inside the grinder and pipes tested positive as marijuana, the report indicated.
