Man Faces Marijuana Possession Charges After Traffic Stop in Canton

The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Canton Township Police stopped a driver Oct. 17 traveling eastbound on Ford Road at Lilley Road in a tan GMC Envoy without its lights on, according to a police report.

The driver, whom police found to have two active license suspensions and four warrants from Redford Township, Farmington and Northville, told police he was leaving Applebee’s, the report said.

Police arrested the man because of the suspension and warrants and gave officers consent to search his vehicle. Police found a black and green container in the center console with a substance believed to be marijuana, the report said, as well as a baggie of suspected marijuana in the back pocket of the passenger side seat.

The substance in the contained tested positive as 27.1 grams of marijuana, and the substance in the baggie tested positive as 5.4 grams of marijuana.

Police cited the man on charges of driving with a suspended license and marijuana possession.

Prescription drugs, cash reported stolen from vehicle

Canton Township Police responded Oct. 17 to a home at the 51000 block of Mott for a report of a theft from a vehicle, according to a police report.

The vehicle owner told police that between 9 p.m. on Oct. 16 and 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 17, someone had broken into her vehicle and took prescription drugs and $5 in cash from the center console of her vehicle, the report said.

The woman told police she had broken a key inside the door so it was easy to open and believes that is how the suspect entered her vehicle, the report said. She told police nothing else had been taken.

Police do not have suspects.
