Man Arrested in Canton on Drug Charges
The following information has been provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
Canton Township Police arrested two men at 12:38 a.m. Sept. 13 near the intersection of Interstate 275 and Ford Road on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs and marijuana possession, according to a police report.
The responding officer stopped a Chevrolet GMT-400 traveling westbound on Ford Road because its headlights were off, the report said. The officer said the driver's eyes were bloodshot and watery, and he could smell intoxicants in the vehicle, according to the report. The driver said he had not been drinking but his passenger said he had been, the report said.
The officer administered sobriety tests on the driver, who lost his balance doing the walk-and-turn, according to the report. The driver passed a preliminary breath test, however, according to the report.

After the officer asked if he could search the vehicle, the passenger said he had marijuana and handed the officer a tin container of a green leafy substance, the report said. The substance was later positively tested as marijuana, according to the report.
