Plymouth Man Charged in Downtown Assault

Man allegedly assaulted woman outside of downtown bar.

A 28-year-old Plymouth man faces a misdemeanor assault charge after an alleged drunken attack on a woman downtown, the Plymouth Observer is reporting.

Joshua Sims, 28, told police he blacked out before being arrested on Penniman Avenue, according to the report. Witnesses told police a man had thrown a woman to the sidewalk after she and a group of friends were taking a photograph in front of shortly before 2 a.m. on Jan. 7, the report said.

The man was subdued by the manager of , where the suspect had reportedly been escorted from shortly before the incident, the report said.

Sims was arraigned in 35th District Court on Jan. 9, the report said.
