Plymouth Township Woman Reports Fraudulent Use of Debit Card

Plymouth Township Police met Feb. 16 at the station with a woman reporting fraud, according to a police report.

The woman told police on Feb. 3 she tried to withdraw funds from her bank account using her debit card, but was notified of insufficient funds. She told police her husband had just deposited a pension check into the account and that there should have been sufficient funds, so she called her bank.

The woman told police the bank notified her someone had made about 15 unauthorized debit card transactions on the account she shares with her husband totaling an unspecified amount.

The woman told police she had been in contact with the credit card fraud department of her bank, who notified her the funds likely will be reimbursed once a police report has been completed, the report indicated.

According to the police report, the card number was used to make 15 large purchases at Office Depot, the Apple Store, Lids Locker Room, Premium Parking, Chevron and Chili’s Restaurant.

The woman canceled the card once she was made aware of the unauthorized transactions, the report indicated.
