Police Arrest 2 Men Accused of Stealing Gaming Cards

The following information was provided by Canton Township Police. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Canton Township Police responded Oct. 6 to Walmart, 39500 Ford Road, for a report of two people in custody for shoplifting, according to a police report.

The store’s loss prevention officer told police he observed two men taking several Magic: The Gathering gaming cards from near the cash register area and he watched the men remove the cards from the packaging and place them into their pockets, the report said.

The employee also watched the men pay for packets of Kool-Aid and try to leave the store without paying for the cards, the report said.

Police recovered 10 packs of Magic: The Gathering cards from one man, valued at $42.19, and 11 packs of cards from the other man, valued at $46.41.

Police arrested both men on third-degree retail fraud charges. They both face an Oct. 23 court date.

Police arrest man at Kohl's in Canton

Canton Township Police responded Oct. 5 to Kohl’s, 44444 Ford Road, for a report of a man shoplifting after trying to return items bought from another Kohl’s location, according to a police report.

The man told police did not have a receipt and the store manager denied the return, the report said, and he became upset and placed a DC Shoe Company hoodie into his plastic bag before exiting the store.

The store’s loss prevention officer stopped the man on his way out and escorted the man to the loss prevention office and called police.

Police arrested the man on third-degree retail fraud charges.
