Police Blotter: Driver Runs Over Mailbox, Flees Scene

The incident occurred outside Zack's of Plymouth, according to a restaurant employee.

An employee at restaurant reported to Plymouth Township police Friday that he observed the driver of a dark blue Ford F-150 run over a mailbox near the restaurant and drive away.

According to the police report, the employee, a 23-year-old Canton man, reported the accident around 2:20 a.m.

Attempted vehicle theft on Newporte Drive

According to Plymouth Township police, a 75-year-old woman who lives on Newporte Drive reported an attempted auto theft which occurred sometime between 11:55 p.m. April 6 and 7:30 p.m. April 7.

According to the police report, the passenger side door of the woman's 1998 Dodge Ram van, which was parked in front of her residence, was broken out. The police report also noted damage to the steering column. Nothing was missing from the vehicle.

Car keyed on Morrison

On April 6, a 61-year-old Plymouth man came to the Plymouth Township Police Department to report vandalism to his 2003 black Ford F-150.

According to the police report, the man said the car was parked in front of his house on Morrison, and that sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. on April 6, someone keyed the hood and both sides of the truck.

The officer filing the report said he saw one key stroke down each side of the truck and an expletive keyed onto the hood.
