Police Blotter: Pool Vandalism, Marijuana Possession, Vehicle Larcenies

The following arrest information was supplied by the Plymouth Township police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Woman reports pool liner being cut; knife found nearby

At 12:13 p.m. on June 4, an officer was dispatched to Rockledge Drive for a report of malicious destruction of property.
The woman at the residence told police she last saw her pool intact at 11 p.m. on June 3. She told police she had removed the cover and it had about 20 inches of water.

She told police that the next day when she let her dog out, she noticed most of the water was gone. She told police that, after further inspection, she found an old, wood-handled knife lying at the bottom of the pool.

She told police the pool liner had a small cut near where the knife was located, according to the report. No other damages were reported and police have no suspects.

Woman arrested for marijuana possession

At 10:55 p.m. on June 3, an officer made contact with a driver in a black 2006 Lincoln Zephyr who, according to a police report, had made an illegal right turn from the northbound Interstate 275 ramp to Ann Arbor Road. According to a police report, the driver turned right onto eastbound Ann Arbor Road against a no-turn-on-red sign. 

The officer requested a license, insurance and registration from the driver, who said the car belonged to her friend and she had just dropped the friend off at Bumpers Bar & Grill. According to the report, the officer told the driver he spelled marijuana, to which the driver replied, "No." The officer then asked the driver if she had smoked any marijuana that day and she said she hadn't. He then asked the driver if her friend had smoked marijuana and she said she didn't know.

The officer called in K-9 backup. He returned to the car and asked the driver if he could search her vehicle because he could smell marijuana, according to the report. The driver told the officer he couldn't search the vehicle. He asked why, to which the drive responded, "Because I don't have to and it is my right and it is not my car," the report said.

The officer then requested the driver's keys. Once an additional officer arrived with a dog, they walked to the passenger side of the car and the dog signaled it had found drugs.

The officer then asked the driver to exit the vehicle, according to the report, and searched the vehicle. He found a red film canister with a leafy green substance later determined to be marijuana. He also found three glass pipes and a pack of Zig Zag rolling papers in the vehicle's glove box. 

The officer arrested the driver and police impounded the vehicle. The driver, a Howell resident, was cited for possessing 15.3 grams of marijuana, possession of narcotics paraphernalia and making a prohibited turn.

GPS units stolen from truck

On June 3 at 5:02 p.m., an officer was sent to the township department to meet with a man who wished to report a larceny from his truck. The man told the officer someone entered his 2008 Chevy Silverado sometime between 9 p.m. on June 2 and 6:30 a.m. on June 3, according to a police report. The suspects stole two GPS units from inside the vehicle, which was parked in the driveway, the report said. Police have no suspects.

Laptop stolen from vehicle

At about 12:45 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the township department to meet with a man who said his E-Machines-brand laptop computer was stolen from the trunk of his four-door Nissan on May 23, according to a police report. The man told police he was parked at Schoolcraft Road. He told police he last saw the laptop between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on May 3. No damage to vehicle and no signs of forced entry were reported. Police have no suspects in the case.

Air-conditioning unit stolen from Sheldon Veterinary Hospital

At about 2 a.m. on June 3, police were dispatched to Sheldon Veterinary Hospital, 9460 North Sheldon Road, for a larceny report. A person there told police that at 4:45 p.m. on June 2, the business was vacated secured and intact. Upon returning at 8 a.m. on June 3, the person told police they noticed an air-conditioning unit was missing from the rear of the building. The person was unsure of the brand of the unit. Police have no suspects.
