Police Blotter: Three Larcenies from Cars and a Stolen Tractor

Also, a man was arrested and charged with marijuana possession, and someone attempted to break into a car wash coin box.

According to Plymouth Township police records, three cars were broken into in the past week.

A police report indicates that a 46-year-old man who lives on East Hills Drive parked his 2009 Saturn Vue in his driveway around 9 p.m. Sunday. When he left for work around 6:30 a.m. Monday, he said he found the middle console of the car open and items strewn about the car. He said he was missing cologne, loose change and "emergency cash" that he left in the car.

On Monday, a 27-year-old man who lives on Chandler Drive came into the police station lobby to report an iPod was stolen from his 2005 Ford Focus, which he said he had parked in his driveway around 9:30 the night before. He said when he came out to the car around 5:30 a.m. the next day, the device was missing from the center console.

On March 17, a 60-year-old woman who lives on Strathmore Court reported a Garmin GPS unit missing from the center console of her 2010 Saturn Vue. According to the police report, the woman parked the car in her driveway around 9 p.m. on March 16 and said she might have left it unlocked. She said when she went out to her car at 8 a.m. the next day, the GPS unit was gone.

John Deere tractor stolen

A 28-year-old man who works for a company that does snow and lawn service for the Uplands subdivision in Plymouth Township said a John Deere tractor was stolen from the company's property on Beechwood Court sometime between 3 p.m. March 17 and 2 p.m. Saturday.

According to the police report, the green tractor had been parked in the field next to the company's building for the past month or so, and on Saturday the man said he found it missing. He said he could see tire tracks from the tractor leading from where it was parked down the street.

Canton man arrested and charged with marijuana possession

On Saturday, a Plymouth Township police officer indicated in a police report that he pulled over a 2008 Mercury MKX during a routine traffic stop for a moving violation. He wrote in the report that when he approached the vehicle, he smelled a "strong odor of fresh marijuana" coming from inside the car.

According to the report, when the officer asked the driver, a 37-year-old Canton man, if there was marijuana in the vehicle, he said yes and handed the officer a small bag containing two grams of marijuana. According to the officer's report, the driver said it was medical marijuana, but when the officer asked him if he had a medical marijuana card or application, the driver said no.

The driver was arrested and charged with marijuana possession.

Attempt made to break into car wash coin box

On March 17, the owner of on Northville Road reported to police that someone had attempted to break into a coin box in one of the shop's car wash lanes. The owner said that when he left work on March 16 around 6 p.m., everything was in order, but when he returned to the shop at 8 a.m. the next day, he found that someone had broken the concrete around the coin box but had not managed to open the coin box.

The owner said there was no money in the coin box because the car wash had been closed for the season and was due to open March 17.
