Man Arrested in Attempted Break-in

On Sunday, arrived at Haggerty Road to respond to an alleged larceny suspect pinned to the ground by a homeowner. 

Police observed a male wearing nothing but shorts and another man who was fully dressed in the front lawn. They also observed a gray or black duffel bag on the ground near the two men.

Police identified the man in the shorts as the victim and the other as the possible suspect. The suspect was arrested.

Inside the bag, police found a Canon camera with a case, a Garmin GPS and a small purse. Police also recovered a TomTom GPS, a cable box, an antenna, power cord, $5 bill and $5.86 in change.

According to police reports, the homeowner was unable to identify the property. On Saturday, however, police had responded to a woman who said items had been taken from her 2002 Toyota vehicle overnight. She told police she had parked her car on Micol Drive the night before and noticed her TomTom GPS, cable box and antenna were missing from vehicle. 

The TomTom GPS unit's "home" address was programmed to Novi. The woman told police the GPS was given to her by a friend who lived in Novi.

Another Theft Reported

On Sunday, police responded to Aspen Drive for a complaint of the theft of a Garmin GPS unit, a hunting knife and a multi-tool between 8 a.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday from a black 2008 Chevy Malibu. 

Police said the vehicle was parked in the street unlocked. No damage was reported to the vehicle and no other items were missing.

Small Items Reported Missing from Car

Police responded about 12:05 p.m. on May 11 to house at Hammill Lane in response to a reported larceny from a car. Police met with the caller at her residence, who told police she had parked her Subaru in a detached garage at 10 p.m. the night before and had left her doors unlocked.

Police said the woman reported entering the garage, when she noticed the car's door was ajar, according to the report. She then entered car and noticed someone had taken an Altoids tin with coins, a folding knife and scissors. Nothing else was reported stolen. She found the Altoids tin on a workbench in the garage.
