Police: Man Whose Body Was Found on Tracks Committed Suicide

Man's body discovered Saturday at railroad crossing by Farmer Street; name being withheld.

Plymouth City Police are saying a man whose body was found on the railroad tracks at Farmer Street on Sunday committed suicide.

Police responded at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday to a report of a body that had been discovered after a CSX freight train passed through the crossing, according to a news release from the police department.

Police immediately confirmed the man was dead because of the obvious torso and head trauma, the news release said.

City officers were able to identify the man because he was a known Plymouth resident and were able to conclude the death was the result of suicide, according to the news release. Police said foul play is not suspected.

Police said the man's family has been notified of his death.

Citing privacy and respect for the family, the man's name is not being released, police said.
