Vehicle Reported Stolen at Village Squire Apartments in Canton

The following information was provided by the Canton Township Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Canton Township Police responded Oct. 3 to Village Squire Apartments at the 40000 block of Eaton, for a report of a stolen vehicle, according to a police report.

The vehicle owner told police she woke up that morning to go to work and her 2002 Dodge Intrepid was missing, the report said. The woman told police she parked her vehicle in the parking lot near her building at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 2 and the vehicle wasn’t there at 7:15 a.m. the next day, the report said.

The woman told police she had locked her vehicle and the only item left in the vehicle was an empty black suitcase, the report said.

Police have no suspects.

2 men arrested on retail fraud charges 

Canton Township Police responded Oct. 5 to Kohl’s, 44444 Ford Road, for a report of a man shoplifting after trying to return items bought from another Kohl’s location, according to a police report.

The man told police did not have a receipt and the store manager denied the return, the report said, and he became upset and placed a DC Shoe Company hoodie into his plastic bag before exiting the store.

The store’s loss prevention officer stopped the man on his way out and escorted the man to the loss prevention office and called police.

Police arrested the man on third-degree retail fraud charges.
