Woman Arrested on Concealed Weapon Charge After Police Find Pink Stun Gun

Police said the stun gun belonged the woman's sister.

Canton Police arrested two women on July 7 after making a regular traffic stop when they noticed a car with expired registration tabs at Joy and Sheldon Roads, according to a police report.

The driver told police that she had no idea that the plate had expired and was picking up her friend from her apartment complex. The driver handed over her driver's license, but could not find registration or proof of insurance, the report said.

According to the report, the driver had a warrant out for her arrest from Redford and Secretary of State showed that her license was currently suspended.

After returning to the car, police officers noticed a strong smell of perfume coming from the car that was not there before. Suspecting the car's passengers were trying to cover up the use of narcotics, police asked to search the car, the report said.

Police found empty blunt wrap packages, commonly used for marijuana. The driver told police that she smoked marijuana in the car earlier that day, but did not have any more on her or in the car, the report said.

The passenger told police that she had a stun gun in the car, next to her purse in the back seat. Police found the pink stun gun in a black fabric case. The woman told police that she did not have a Concealed Pistol License (CPL), the report said.

The woman told police that the stun gun wasn't hers, that it belonged to her sister and that her sister had put it inside her purse, the report said.

The driver of the car was placed under arrest for driving while license suspended and the passenger was arrested for possession of the stun gun.
